Door-to-door moped and scooter shipping
A scooter is easy to ride around town and hard to move across the country. Whether you bought a Vespa three states away, are relocating with a moped, or want a maxi-scooter waiting for you at a winter address, shipping it door to door means you do not have to ride it, trailer it or crate it yourself.
Motorcycle Transporters ships mopeds, Vespas, scooters, maxi-scooters and electric scooters nationwide and overseas. A driver collects the scooter where it is, and delivers it to the address you choose. Live agents answer 24/7 and explain every step before you book.
How scooter shipping works
- 1Call or request a free quote and tell us the make and model, whether it runs and whether it is electric, plus the pickup and delivery locations.
- 2A live agent gives you a custom quote with no obligation to book.
- 3We schedule door-to-door pickup and confirm the pickup window with you.
- 4The driver inspects and photographs the scooter with you, then rolls it onto a pallet and secures it. Palletizing is standard on every shipment.
- 5The scooter rides on a large enclosed truck, not a small low trailer. Domestic transit is typically 10 to 15 business days.
- 6We deliver to the address you choose, and you check the scooter over with the driver when it arrives.
Every scooter is palletized as standard
Every bike and scooter we ship is rolled onto a pallet and secured to it, so the scooter stays upright and stable for the whole trip. This is how we ship every scooter, moped and motorcycle. There is no separate pallet charge to ask about and nothing to opt into.
The pallet rides on a large enclosed truck, a full-size tractor-trailer, which keeps the scooter out of rain, road grime and rock chips. Our motorcycle crating and pallet guide explains the process in more detail.
For the full process, read the motorcycle crating and pallet shipping guide.
How to prepare a scooter for shipping
Our motorcycle preparation checklist covers each step in detail and works for scooters and mopeds too.
- Wash the scooter and photograph every side, the seat, the floorboard and the odometer in good light.
- Remove the top case, loose bags and any accessories that could come off, such as phone mounts, windscreens and cargo racks you do not need.
- Leave about a quarter tank of fuel or less on a gas scooter, and check that the battery is charged.
- Check the tire pressure so the scooter rolls onto the pallet easily.
- Take out the helmet, documents and anything valuable, and keep the keys ready for the driver.
- Tell us if the scooter does not run, so the loading can be planned in advance.
Electric scooter battery tips
Electric scooters ship the same way as gas scooters, but tell your agent it is electric when you request your quote so loading can be planned for it. A few habits help every electric scooter before pickup day.
- Check the manufacturer guidance for the battery charge level it recommends before transport or storage, and follow it.
- Make sure the battery is secure and the charge port is closed and clean.
- Photograph the charge or range display along with the rest of the scooter.
- Keep the charger and key fob with you or hand them to the driver, and say which you are doing when you book.
- Tell us about anything unusual, such as a warning light or a battery that does not hold a charge.
Shipping a scooter you bought online
Plenty of scooters and Vespas are bought from sellers in other states, dealers and online listings. Shipping is often the safest way to bring one home, because you skip the trailer rental, the long drive and the risk of loading it yourself.
Once the sale is agreed and the scooter is paid for and ready for release, send us the seller or dealer address, your delivery address and the make and model. We schedule the pickup with the seller and ship it door to door. Ask the seller for the title, the bill of sale and dated photos before the driver arrives.
Nationwide and overseas
We ship scooters and mopeds across the United States and overseas. International quotes are custom, because they depend on the scooter, the pickup location, the port and the destination. We do not publish international prices, so call or request a quote and a live agent will build one for your move.
