Walkthrough
Pickup day walkthrough
Quick answer
On pickup day, have the bike clean, photographed, low on fuel, and charged, with one key ready. The driver calls ahead, inspects the bike with you, rolls it into an enclosed trailer, sets the front wheel in a chock, and fits soft-tie straps to the frame before you sign.

Before the truck arrives
- 1Wash and photograph the bike.
- 2Run the fuel down to a quarter tank.
- 3Charge the battery and check the tires.
- 4Remove loose items and empty the bags.
- 5Have one key and your booking details ready.
When the driver is there
- 1Walk around the bike together and agree on its condition.
- 2Watch the bike being loaded and strapped.
- 3Sign the pickup paperwork and keep your copy.
At delivery
- 1Check the bike with the driver in good light.
- 2Compare it with your pickup photos.
- 3Note anything you find before you sign.
FAQ
Shipping prep walkthrough: common questions
How long does a motorcycle pickup take?
It depends on the bike and the access, but the inspection and loading are usually quick when the bike is ready. A non-running bike takes longer.
Should I ride the bike onto the trailer myself?
No. The driver loads the bike. You are welcome to watch.
What if it is raining on pickup day?
Pickups go ahead in most weather, because the bike goes straight into an enclosed trailer. Do your photos before the rain if you can.
Where is the full prep checklist?
See our guide on how to prepare a motorcycle for shipping for the full 10-step checklist.
