How to plan the season

Why ship instead of riding south

Riding a thousand miles or more in late fall often means cold mornings, rain, and early darkness before you reach warm weather. It also adds highway miles and tire wear before the season even starts. Shipping lets you drive or fly down with the rest of your household and find the bike waiting at your winter address.

The return trip matters as much. Spring roads up north can still carry salt and sand in March and April. An enclosed trailer keeps that grit off the paint and chrome, so the bike comes home ready for your first local ride rather than a deep clean.
